But that's the exact point.

If I go to a 4 Star restaurant and they can't even boil the water, then why the hell am I going to pay them for anything else?

When things are failing, be it a restaurant or your writing, then the very first thing you do is make sure your core basic skills are up to par, because they're what everything else is built on.
