Just trying to decide if I want to create a third account for straight-up smut.

Who cares, OP? Unless your rl identity is closely tied to your fandom one, writing porn for a fandom isn't a point of shame or something you need to keep under wraps.

I mean, let's be real here, a giant chunk of fandom is devoted to fulfilling sexual fantasies about characters and pretty much always has been (since the very, very beginning of what can be called modern fandom). I'm dead certain the other person in your fandom who writes porn fic would love to get a little more slack and not be the only person doing it.

Just go for it.

I approve both of the two filthy examples of fic scenarios you gave and also of your correct use of the word "dearth".

Pity you're not in my medium-sized fandom. We have all kinds of kinky porn dribbling out our orifices. The rate of fills to prompts in any kink meme is crucial, like you pointed out. Ours is about 1 in 6 which I think is outstanding.

Perhaps you could run a fest in your fandom, and advertise it around, hopefully encouraging new writers to come to your fandom? That way even if you don't write yourself, you'll get more porn.

Sex scenes are usually just frustrating to write, especially if you're not into the prompted kinks or scenarios. I almost always prefer those prompts that lead to 40,000+ word stories. At least they're interesting, even with pairings or plots that aren't my favorite.

I think the reaction if you started writing smut wouldn't necessarily be what you think it would be? I mean I had nothing but the whole-hearted support of my peers when I hopped from "only ever fluff" to "dude gets road head from his belt" so who knows?

(Tooootally feel you on the "where's the porn?" situation. The fandom I wrote beltfucking for is pretty much in the same place. The most recent kink meme is... holding in there, but I've seen more than one just immediately die and it's incredibly confusing, given the canon.)

What I did was create an alter-ego and find like-minded partners to RP garbage smut with. I assume they don't know who I really am, but who knows.

The thing is...I do write smut. Popular smut, even. But I'm kinda well-known for my tasteful smut (and I do have a distinctive style). And sometimes, I miss porn of the really straight-up, balls (lol) to the wall "omg yes punish my tight asshole!!"-variety. Both reading it, and writing it.

Thanks, though, FS. Venting about that felt good, and the replies are great. Maybe I'll go find my big girl panties eventually, and drop some smut-bombs in my fandom.
