My guess. He was such a horrible person before the change that he pissed off the wrong person and was murdered. But since he was a better person after the visitations, he never ticked off that potential murderer.

Maybe Tiny Tim died. Bob wanted to go bury his son, Scooge said no and Bob killed him. (Made it look like an accident.)
