If OP cares about a game's story and characters, they're going to want to experience that particular story and characters. Other mediums present good stories, but they may not be the stories that the OP wants to partake in at this exact moment? If I'm playing The Last Of Us because I'm interested in or care about the characters, dropping the game and watching The Walking Dead instead isn't going to scratch my itch.
