Yeah, they had no chemistry and it was terribly written (as was the whole show, actually). But really, there already was little enough left except for the names to make it into an even rough Arthurian myth adaption, taking out Gwen/Arthur as endgame would have been just ridiculous and anyone who actually expected that was a bit delusional imo.

Because Guinevere/Lancelot is such a known thing, I think it would've been forgivable had they bandied with Gwen/Arthur and ended up with Gwen/Lancelot. But that WOULD mean that the second main character didn't "get the girl" - sin of sins.
