5. 'Kay. Coming out of hiding to answer this one XD I don't hate anything and everything connected with religion. I've read and enjoyed the Chronicles of Narnia, A Prayer for Owen Meany, and I go to a Catholic high school. So even if I did hate all religiosity, it would have made me pretty exhausted what with having to be actively hating it 5 days a week for four years. The point of the secret was more that I feel weird reacting to the movie the same way I did when I was a kid, and that confuses me because so much of what I think has changed. I also feel like I shouldn't like it, not because of my being an athiest, but because I'm not a Christian. I'm not in the target audience any more, and I feel like I'm cheating by watching this faith that I don't have.

So there you go. Sorry for the big friggin' block of text. I was going to be a lot bitchier, but then your comment for 21 made me laugh. Sheesh. Thanks a lot for deflating me.

Even if you're not a Christian, you can enjoy it as an entertaining story. Many biblical stories are actually entertaining when made into movies and such, whether you believe in them or not. I don't think there's anything wrong with non-Christians liking them. I liked the Mahabharata, and I'm not a Hindu.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant faith in general, not faith as pertaining to one religion. It's just a weird feeling, to watch a movie about this great belief that I don't have anymore.

It would be easier if I hadn't been raised religious, maybe. If you had been born and raised Hindu and then converted, it might be different to watch (read?) that without some of the same sort of feeling.

I do enjoy the story. Sometimes it just bothers me.

Oh my gosh. XD I can't believe you're the OP. I love Prince of Egypt, too. o.o; How many things in common does that make for us now...?

Well, I'm an atheist myself and I just find it weird when people seem as though they need to question their beliefs when they realize they enjoy something connected to religion. I've actually known a few other atheist people who did just that at one time or another (Oddly enough, one dealing with the exact same movie here) and I've never really understood the reaction.

I didn't mean to sound bitchy myself, I just wanted to make a distinction clear since there's been a crap load of supposed atheists who simply assume atheism simply involves actively hating religion. Which is...annoying since they're kind of...helping the non-atheists who do think atheism is nothing but active hatred.

It doesn't make me question my beliefs. It just makes me feel awkard, because it represents something I used to identify with and don't anymore. And I know athiesm doesn't just mean you hate religion, or hate anything, really. Give my intelligence some credit, okay?
