10. Link was definitely my childhood boyfriend after OoT came out. We flirted during Link to the Past and all, but it wasn't until OoT that we made it official. (In my defense, I didn't write creepy self-insert fanfic about my wild tiger sex adventures with him AAH SCARRED FOR LIFE)

23. I thought all the romance in Harry Potter was thrown together and awkward. Harry/Cho, Ron/Lavender, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione -- it was all rushed and stuck in at the last minute.

38. I didn't cry, but I did fall off the couch and make loud noises and yell "IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME".

41. I don't hate Mai. She can be a badass. She was pretty annoying in Book 2 when every word out of her mouth was a complaint, but she hasn't been complaining as much in Book 3 (probably because she is getting laid). Maiko makes me laugh because it is so awkward but I can't take it seriously or stand to watch it because as a really awkward person myself, I feel awkward for the characters onscreen and it just makes me criiiinge.

That and I think Mai and Ty Lee would be much hotter. ♥

Ron/Hermione -- it was all rushed and stuck in at the last minute.

....Except Ron/Hermione has been developing heavily since book two. Five books=last minute? It was foreshadowed heavily in books two and three and their feelings became blatant in four. Harry/Cho was first foreshadowed in book three (so he had been crushing on her two years) and if it seems rushed then it was successful in it's purpose- which was to be an awkward and unsuccessful relationship for Harry. Ron/Lavender was once again, intentionally rushed because it wasn't a "real" relationship as much as a shallow physical one.

That's fine that you think that Ron/Hermione has been "developing heavily". I personally think that there was a lot more foreshadowing in the movies than in the books themselves. (And yes, I did read the books first.)I said that "I thought" it was all rushed and thrown together because that's the impression I got when I read the books.

Sorry that was me above. I hadn't signed in yet. I disagree about the movies. I think except for a few added scenes here and there, they've completely played down the relationship between the two- particularly in PoA and GoF. Yes they added the awkward ending scene in CoS, but in turn they took out most of Ron's jealousy over Lockhart and most of his conviction over helping Hermione (he didn't even go visit her in the Pomfrey's in the movie, only Harry did. wtf?). In PoA they added the handhold but they took out the big "awkward" hug between the two and Ron helping out Hermione with Buckbeak's trial (he did all the research) for example. In GoF the only scene was the Yule Ball one. She didn't even get upset over Fleur really. OoTP had the teaspoon scene and the added one with Grawp, but took out quite a bit (actually though, I thought OotP was pretty good to them). This is probably on the whole due to the fact that Ron's role is played down so severely, and thus Harry and Hermione's relationship almost comes across more focal (they add loads of scenes with just the two of them, including the insanely long finale of PoA and at least two big ones in GoF) than that of the trio's at times and that carries over to all of Ron's relationships. I'm a huge trio fan (and a Harry & Ron fan) just as much as I am a Ron/Hermione fan so that's always been frustrating to me.

I can sort of see the rushed complaints with Harry/Ginny, but Ron and Hermione's feelings developed at a very natural pace (even a bit slowly to be honest), imho and really kicked into gear in book four which is still four books total. Sorry for the tl;dr. I just wanted to clarify (and apologize for anonymousing).

Okay, you bring up great points. I love Ron, and going to see the movies can make me angry because of how little screen time he gets, and how they play up Harry/Hermione, and how little importance Ron seems to have to the story, when that is definitely not the case.

I'm also a big trio and Ron/Hermione fan, but I guess I liked the build up more than the actual execution? If that makes sense? I think my whole complaint, really, is that I don't like the way JKR writes her characters, her books are entirely plot based. I don't know what my main gripe is with her, because yeah, they are her characters, and I do love the Harry Potter books, and I should just shut up and go sit in my corner. :D
