It just feels like this has been done before via SPN. I'd love it if there was another 'people fight the supernatural' show that wasn't about freaking angels and demons again.

Ah, I never got to the angels and demons part of SPN. I've only seen the first 8 episodes of season 1, back when they were still doing Monster of the Week episodes.

Angelic/demonic struggle narratives are a staple of popular media. Even X-Files had something like 3 demonic episodes.

And even extending outside those episodes, it's not like there's actually a huge difference between a demonic possession war in heaven storyline, me and x-files' alien conspiracy stuff, in terms of actual content

It has some similar beats. The cult like following in the Red and the Black, the struggle between colonizing alien races.

yeah the more it gets into the moloch/end of days, the less interested i get. i liked the set up with the horseman, and ichabod coming from the past, and the founding father conspiracies more than the demon stuff.
