I have no beef with Katrina at all. I just think the writing doesn't use her character up to its full potential.

I like the idea of Katrina (of who she is, what she has done and has the potential to do), but more is told than shown and that makes her look just... bland.

I think they've already waffled a bit on her characterization (for instance, in season 1, she's living a simple life and then a couple episodes later, she's wearing some big ass emerald necklace) and it makes me feel like there's no point getting interested if even those details aren't hammered down.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. First she's a simple Quaker, next she's wearing a far more elaborate gown and engaged to a rich landowner. I don't think that would've been typical back then for rich landowners to marry someone with no money or family?

Same here. But I'm also okay with them NOT doing anything with her because there's a finite amount of screen time, you know? :\
