Well... a condition of South African citizenship was being part of Apartheid. You could be totally against it but still benefit from it as a white person. If someone wanted to cast a white South African as Superman during the Apartheid era, that would probably be a legit criticism of the casting choice, no matter how nice the dude was. If he were openly opposing Apartheid, sure, but if not? That sends a message.

It's a condition of her citizenship, but it isn't as if it's impossible to critique that without delving into racism or weirdly personal attacks. I don't like someone pro-IDF playing Wonder Woman because of specific traits of that character. That's got nothing to do with the actress' ethnicity.
