Do people actually call you immature for reading YA? That's crazy. Personally, YA stuff doesn't usually appeal to me, but I don't think adults who read YA are immature. If anything, I feel like I'm missing something or not getting something because I know so many people who enjoy it and I just can't seem to get into it.

Although maybe I just haven't read the right books. I've had multiple people recommend the Hunger Games series, so I went and got those, and recently I've heard good things about the Divergent series, so I might have to check those out as well.

A couple of people said stuff about it online and one person said something about it at a dinner once. The real life encounter was especially bizarre because the person was an uneducated dingbat who I had only just met. Also, it's not like YA is the only thing I read. It's the thing I read when I want to cry and have FEEEEEEEEELINGS.

Can't speak to Divergent, but the first HG book was really good. If you want a one shot, '13 Reasons Why' by Jay Asher will make you cry your face off. I recommended that to my mother, my roommate, and a college professor, and they all loved it. Using recorded tapes, a girl explains why she committed suicide.

ayrt

Hmm, that sounds interesting, I'll have to look into it.

I just remembered a YA book I loved...Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. Someone here recommended it in a book thread a long time ago and I thought it was really good.

I actually have that on my (very long) reading list. I'll bump it up after I finish my current book.
