That scene, in particular, is pretty well done.

It does a really good job of letting you feel it along with her. Of course, I do like the whole movie.

I'd heard so much praise for the movie, I was so disappointed when I saw it. Most of the film did not work for me at all. That being said, I thought that Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman's storyline was by far the strongest, and the only one that held my interest. And you really do feel for her in that scene.

This is me exactly. Didn't care much for the plots of anybody's except the Emma/Alan one and I did even cry along because I kept hoping all the time and it really hurt me. Emma did a wonderful job in that one. The movie as a whole was trash, though, imo.

I like the whole movie, but Emma definitely kills it for me (in a good way). Her speech to him after the Christmas pageant might be my favorite thing in the whole movie. Of course, Emma Thompson is always amazing, so no surprise there.

I also dislike this movie. I'll probably never watch it again.

But Emma Thompson was pretty fantastic in it.

Hello there Mark Kermode.

Her and Alan Rickman's storyline is why I detest this movie and have only seen it once. I never understood why so many people love it.

Not everyone has good taste. Ridiculous film.

That storyline is so weird because Alan Rickman plays it (purposefully??) as if his character couldn't give a shit if he ends up with one or the other, or neither. Emma is flawless, though, ofc.

Apparently I'm submitting secrets in my sleep. That scene is the only reason I can sit through our annual viewing of the movie.
