I honestly think the mindset of "all the bad/shitty/cringey people wear THIS hat/do this to their hair" is counterproductive and third grade level stupid.

It's just creating a simplistic stereotype. Do you really need some signal to judge people's personality on first glance?

I'm tired of people pulling the "all the bad guys have this hat, this shirt , eat doritos, drink Mountain Dew." We don't need to fire it back the other direction we should really just stop thinking this way altogether.

agreed

it'd be better to just call out people doing shitty things than resort to third grade tier insults, but that actually requires you to listen what they're saying first

tbh, i feel like it creates a lot of a animosity where there could have been an opportunity for people to learn something. like not everyone will magically be convinced about your socially progressive opinion on political stuff, but starting the conversation off with "all men are scum" or "lol fedoras amiright" means nobody but your sj circlejerk will ever take time to listen.
