Fun fact: The chlorine in the water only starts smelling like chlorine when it reacts with things like pee. So the more a pool smells like chlorine, the more people have pissed in it.

Except that's not really a fact at all. I've used various chlorides in the lab, and they all start smelling like chlorine the second they react with regular old H20. It doesn't take some other compound in the water to make them dissociate into their various ionic constituents.
