That was my first thought, too! And if it is them, the only time I can think of that I would count as 'Mickey beating Ian up' was pretty soon after he was forced at gunpoint to have sex with someone he didn't want to have sex with. He was not exactly in a sane place, mentally. Plus I think they're pretty evenly matched physically, and if Ian had wanted to hurt him back, he definitely could have. Like you said below, not that that excuses what Mickey did, but...it's a complicated situation.
