I will say that there's people that take it to an extreme, but I for one have have seen people say OH LET ME ROLEPLAY LARXENE/VEXEN/MARLUXIA/ZEXION etc etc and they've never even looked twice at it because 'omg cards are not keyblade' and so that character just has fanon's personality.

Which can be funny (lol Vexen) but also can lead to OCC bs.

I tried playing CoM but... well, I didn't really like it. :/ I don't think it's nearly as interesting as KH1 and 2, frankly. There are ways to stay out of the fanon trap without forcing yourself to play the game. Like you could do what I did and watch a bunch of videos on kh-vids.net

I found it interesting, but then again I played it before KHII was anything more than the Deep Dive trailer so that might've been what spurred my interest.

And yes - reading the script or watching the videos is a great alternative, but unfortunately a lot of people don't do that. :'( Alas
