I don't ship them, but I loathed Clara before Capaldi came on the scene and now I find her quite likeable.

Really? Because my reaction has been the opposite. Although as much as it pains me to admit it a lot of that probably had to do with preferring 11 (esp the S8 version of 11) to the depiction of 12 so far.

Same. I liked 11 prior to Clara, and I liked the actress, but "Clara-and-11" just did not work for me at all.

I didn't loathe Clara before but I felt like she was nothing more then a plot point with 11, so I didn't like her or really have strong feelings about her as a companion. If I was angry about anything it was that the writers didn't give her any personality.

I think she has better chemistry with 12 (though I don't ship them either) and she was more of a person this past series, so I liked her a lot better.

I didn't loathe her, but I loathed the "impossible girl" arc, and I think it + the flirtiness with Eleven ended up giving her no internal personality. I don't love her or all the choices made in this season (aside from Capaldi himself, who I do love!), but at least now I feel like I could describe Clara Oswald as a character and not just a plot device with cute clothes.

I've never really shipped Doctor/anyone though--probably why my favorite companion is still Donna. Shipping the Doctor with any Companion kinda squicks me, tbh--I can deal with Doctor/Master or even Doctor/Jack in theory, but not companions.

I found Clara dull as anything and then Twelve happened. I wouldn't say I ship them, but the actors have great chemistry so I can see why people do.

It helps that they actually wrote Clara as more of a person this series. Flawed, but well beyond 'plot device'

This, so much. I love that we actually got to know Clara as a person in the past season, because before we knew so little beyond the whole "impossible girl" thing.

That said, I did like her best friends chemistry with Eleven. But Matt Smith has chemistry with pretty much anyone.
