I seriously miss forums...

me too

there's a few still around, but none that I like and hit my sweet spot of mid sized, moderately active forum

NAYRT - And I've found a lot of them are multifandom, which is fine, but I miss huge forums with multiple topics for more than just one fandom.

Plus, a lot of the ones that exist are owned by admins who don't seem to understand how a forum works, so you get weird rules and sometimes threads just disappear into thin air.

ayrt

oh man, definitely agreed on admins. i might be a little spoiled by f!s' amazing moderation, but so many forums have really arbitrary rules and seem more concerned about enforcing dumb stuff than just stepping in when things get out of hand. so many mods on powertrips, but they don't even get rid of the worst posters.

that's one thing i kinda like about tumblr/twitter, no mods getting in the way, but on the other hand it's pretty much impossible to get rid of the actually awful people.

If a lot of your fandoms are television-based, might I suggest forums.previously.tv? It was created by the founders of TWOP, but the modding IMO is much more reasonable and less draconian.
