I quit DC after the New 52. With Ted Kord erased from history, Amanda Waller stripped of everything I liked about her, and Booster apparently now an old vet... I mean, I just lost my motivation for the publisher.

Yeah, the cost is killer. I mean, I'm used to coughing up a bit for my little creator friends, but that's because they're running the business out of their basement. Seriously, if Marvel or DC made comics that cut down on the color or got rid of it entirely, and sold it for cheaper, I would be all over that. To think comics once cost a nickel... *sigh*

Ted Kord is back (sort of.) The Booster we all know and love never really left either, but he's been busy behind the scenes.

The New 52 has otherwise redeemed itself with Forever Evil, which made slogging through the previous two years worth the trouble and I really like where things are going now. Something big is going down this year and I have a strong suspicion it's another Crisis. It won't be a reboot, or a reversion to the old continuity, but I'm putting money on them deliberately pulling more elements from the old continuity forward and taking off the New 52 label on all the comics.

*suspicious* Is it an evil clone? I swear, if they kill him off again just to make Booster cry, I'll be pissed.

Hmm. Well, I'll keep my ear to the ground, but I'll believe it when I see it.

No, it's definitely the original Ted. And also the original Booster, despite the original Booster ALSO being busy with other stuff (time travel is complex.)

I mean, they're in a Keith Giffen comic, so yeah it's them.

(Speaking of Booster, he also shows up a few times in All Star Western, which IMO is the best comic of the original New 52 lineup and that never really changed. It finally ended a couple months ago.)

SWEET.

I only have four action figures atop my coffee table, and they are Booster, Ted, Juggernaut, and Deadpool. They are the characters I have a soft spot for. (Except Juggernaut, who I keep because he has a punch button in his back that's very therapeutic, like a stress ball.)

I haven't even HEARD of All Star Western! Is that anything like the Justice Riders trade they did ages back?

Nah, it's actually mostly Jonah Hex and Amadeus Arkham Having Adventures™, but about 2/3rds through its run there's time travel silliness and it's just SO much fun from #1 to the end. I loved it.

...okay, I can't deny, that does sound pretty fucking cool. I've always wanted to try out Jonah Hex, so this might be a good excuse for me to hunt the library.

Hex actually gives Superman a major dressing-down at one point too, which is by far one of my favourite Superman moments (right up there with Tommy Monahan fanboying all over Supes, which I always thought was really kind of sweet given Garth Ennis' known dislike for superheroes.)

I heard even GARTH ENNIS liked Superman.

Also, I am ALWAYS down for a superhero getting a good reality check.
