How is it weird to not want to talk to authors?

Because I'm a fanfic writer in fandom. I'm in the same community as the people who read my fic, we share the same interests and if they follow my work, then they probably like what I'm creating. Fandom's a relatively small club compared to non-fandom interests. It feels weird to constantly run in the same circles with people who are like me, but who don't want to talk to me at all.

It's sort of like having a favorite restaurant where you go eat and get take out all the time, but you never make eye contact or speak to the people who serve you your food. Lots of people think that's fine. I think it's weird because I've worked in situations like that and it feels weird to know that people aren't interested in you as a person, they're only interested in consuming what you make for them.
