Nobody owes me anything obviously. And I am not going to throw a tantrum about it either way. But we have evolved a system and an etiquette of tagging and cataloging fic for the convenience of the reader, and warning for char death is part of that to me. So given that etiquette I don't think it's ridiculous to ask for character warnings as part of the system we've built for allowing people to find and choose fics to read. And if your argument against it is that it's betrayal of your artistic integrity I think that is ridiculous.

I didn't make any arguments for not tagging, so I'm afraid you're going to have to battle your straw man alone.

I don't think they're really making a strawman when the topic is "warning for character death: yay or nay?"

I was specifically addressing the "betrayal of artistic integrity" aspect of the comment. Since I didn't make any pro arguments for not tagging because of Artistic Integrity and I reread the secret which also doesn't make any such claims... yeah, I'm going to say that the above anon is bringing up artistic integrity because most people think it's an obnoxious reason not to tag. But since nobody in this thread up till that point had actually claimed it was legit ---> straw man.

All right, I see what you're saying.

NAYRT, but I presume you're okay with 'choose not to warn' as an adequate warning. I don't think I'm Shakespeare or Nabakov, but I don't care to tip my hand that there's a character death - but I do CNTW, which should cover the bases. But now some people still get pissy that there wasn't a character death warning along with CNTW.
