Re: god dammit i need to quit reading letters to the editor

I haven't had surgery done yet because money, but thanks to the ACA and Title VII rulings I'm in the process to get my letters submitted and a consult scheduled. So long as I stay on medicaid, I can get it done, which doesn't seem like it'll ever change since I can't get a job. Long-term unemployed and barely surviving, that's the story for pretty much the majority of trans women right there.

I'm not sure which is hurting me worse wrt getting hired, being long-term unemployed or being trans. Probably both.

Yeah, I was lucky. I had my life savings, fast-talked my way through gatekeepers to get on the fast(ish) track, and got things done while I could.

Now I'm legally disabled, so would never be able to afford surgery--I'm not legally allowed to save the money that would be required. It also means I'm pretty much stuck off hormones, but I can live with that.

But on the plus side, I'm alive and happy and safe, and I have people who love me. I'll take that as a win.
