Lawrence Block does a series of books about a burglar who solves mysteries, often but not always because he's accused of the murder and has to solve the case to acquit himself. You might enjoy those, since half the time he "solves" the case by figuring out who did it and then using his burglary skills to falsify evidence because he can't find enough actual evidence.
