And I kind of wish they would do it for books, movies, and TV shows. Character death is not traumatic for me so much as it's irritating/off-putting/upsetting/angering/saddening depending on the circumstances. But, I do think fanfic is not the same as other media, though I guess you could make a case of it being similar to things like Star Trek or Star Wars EU books - let me tell you this, if I was reading one and they killed off Luke, Han, or Leia, I would be pissed.
