Yeah, I'm not sure why, but that happens to me fairly commonly too (the fact that I like AerithxTifa more than Cloti or Clerith, for example). Agree with other people that it doesn't seem particularly hypocritical?

I mean, I think I see what you mean, that you probably think that rivals A and B have too much jealousy between them to make an AxBxC threesome at all appealing or believable... but then you go on to ship AxB anyway, which undermines your distaste for AxBxC?

But I guess the way I see it is that the canonical CxA and CxB dynamics end up pissing me off so much, that (1) I can't see how AxBxC would be appealing as it would still bring out the worst in all the characters involved, and (2) (however) the AxB dynamic is the only one that HASN'T been messed up by the canon and therefore still has potential. I think that's what's going on?

Generally, I've yet to come across a situation where I felt OT3 solved anything. The closest is that in OUAT, I kept thinking that Robin having a polyamorous setup with Marian and Regina would have made things work better (but no way would Marian and Regina be expected to develop a romantic relationship with each other, so I just don't see OT3 being the solution there).
