It's not Mads Mikkelsen (although I do think he is pretty hot) or Peter Capaldi. The actor's old enough to be my dad, but he actually happens to be younger than both of my parents (my parents are pretty fucking old, not particularly close to average, but if I was born when they were the age most people statistically had children I would be in my mid-twenties-early 30's and in this reality I'm 17)

The fact that he actually looks like someone I know in Real Life that I interact with on a occasional basis is probably one aspect that turns up the "weird" factor for me.

There's a one or two other older actors I've also had crushes on (Christoph Waltz is the only one I can think of off the top of my head) whose "fan crush fandom spaces" I tend to be wary of. Either because I know that there will be little there in the first place or because I think things will get weird.

This was my guess too, but I don't remember the Robert Carlyle fandom being THAT overtly sexual...although maybe things have changed since I got less involved.
