There's nothing wrong with giving a lot of thought to this question, regardless of whether or not it comes in the context of anime.

People often use fictional scenarios in order to make personal decisions and form ideas about themselves; deciding how you would feel and approach the idea of an OT3 in your own life is not a stupid or worthless activity.

tl;dr It seems likely to me that the concept of a relationship involving multiple partners is something you might be trying to reconcile for yourself, OP. Even if you're not interested in it personally, knowing how you feel about it in general is a useful exercise. :)

They are both good OT3, OP. Don't feel bad. I don't ship OT3 myself (much), but they would have fun dynamics.

Same OP, same.

I may have squeed when the fanbook revealed that Kyoshi and Riko dated some time ago before the show starts (really did wonder why they call each other by their first names). *waves OT3 flag*

And I usually never ship OT3.

I ship both of these too, OP!

Actually I was thinking about them yesterday (?) when the "OT3 fixes everything!" debate came up. I'm very much with that secret's OP in that I find people who try to railroad you into OT3-ing just to solve supposed ship drama incredibly patronizing, but these are two examples of where I truly do see it working.

All three bring their individual dynamics to the relationship, and more importantly, all three sides of the three have their own established and powerful dynamic in the first place.

There's no sense in either of these that any one character is being shoehorned in just to avoid fandom drama, which seems to be the motive behind the "OT3 fixes everything!" movement.

I don't think it means you're thinking too hard about it, OP. I think it just means you're engaging with the characters enough to be able to both value their relationships as presented within canon and extrapolate that out into how it might work within this kind of context.

I agree completely about the shoehorned OT3 thing. It's why I don't ordinarily ship OT3 but the ship is strong with these.

ayrt

Yep. They just seem to come as a package. It's weirder for me to try shipping any combination as a stand-alone pair because it always feels like something's missing, which in my book is what makes an actual OT3 as opposed to Character A gets shipped a lot with B and also sometimes with C so might as well just shove C in there too even though the chemistry makes no sense and one side of the triangle is always going to be dominant and hence it's going to be unstable.

There is no one dominant pair in either of these. Or it might be more accurate to say they're all equally dominant pairs, and that's why they work.

Text: Secret- This is the only fandom I ship OT3s in (them and Aomine/Kuroku/Kagami)

I crave harmless fic about the practicalities of two people loving Hyuuga or Kuroku and how the OT3 moves in together and gets serious.

Why am I giving this much thought to a silly sports anime?

Ohh those two are my favorite OT3 (my other favorite OT3 is AoKagaKise, especially the fanarts for them).

Don't feel bad, anon! Shipping is for everyone and they can be quite fun and harmless with all the headcanons and fun dynamics!
