Why doesn't someone simply start another social network platform only for the discussion of fandom? All fandom. Something that has the ability to carry one conversations but the ability to spread those conversations as well as other fandom related things like cosplay photos, fanart and fan songs and fan videos easily like tumblr?

The person who makes that one stop for fans would make a mint.

People wouldn't pay for it. They might make enough in ads to stay functioning (assuming the ads didn't drive people away), but there would be no mint.

The thing about fandom social network platforms is that you can't be sure it'll work (that's the thing about nearly all social network, I think). Technically, fandom on Facebook can carry conversations and share stuff easily, but fandom isn't a huge presence on Facebook. And maybe lots of discussion isn't actually what most of fandom wants, and that's why most of fandom is now on Tumblr (regrettably).

Yeah, plus, corporations have been trying to make themselves the Next Big Thing for years. You really can't predict how the hivemind will go.
