Yes. It was like...a year before the movie was released in the US. It took a while for it to be released here because of arguments between the creator and US distributors (who wanted to dumb it down).

Ahh. Yeah I absolutely despise that. It's the reason I've tended to watch originals of foreign films over hollywood adaptations.
