Hobbit 3 Movie

I'm bitter about the new headcanon from the new Hobbit movie and that it's creeping up in everything now. Like, I would've just been annoyed but moved on if it was only in the movie. But now it's in all the prompts and in the fics (even just in passing, which irritates me the most). I liked the Hobbit BoFA initially but the more I see these headcanons everywhere, the more it's turning me off the movie so now I'm beginning to actively dislike it. I don't want it to ruin the movie but it's really pissing me off.

The one that bugs me the most is Legolas leaving. Pretty much the entire Thranduil plot with regards to Tauriel and Legolas bugged me but now there are a ton of plots where Thranduil is sad because his son left him or Legolas is out on his own now and away from his repressive father, etc. etc.

I don't agree with the decision in the film to have Legolas not go back to Mirkwood and all the rest of it but it's not the worst thing ever. But seeing it in so many fics and prompts just reinforces how much I dislike the decision in the movie and makes me think of that when I think of the movie and not any of the things they did right.

I think I'm just going to treat Hobbit 3 as if it doesn't exist, along with Highlander 2, and half the Star Trek movies.
