I really wish more interracial relationships were man of color/white woman or (even better) man of color/woman of color (of different race).

It seems like the majority of interracial relationships are white man/woman of color.

And yet, Tumblr is constantly promoting white man/woman of color as though it is SOOOOO progressive.

But anon!

POC/POC is tokenshipping

White woman/MOC is evil white women stealing from WOC

White man/WOC is WOC stealing white men from white women, which is empowering and makes white women cry, which means it should be promoted at all costs

But Tumblr is so feminist and hates the cliche of pitting women against each other, we swear!

LOL -- it's sad but this is so true and it gets on my last nerve.

Especially because I'm constantly being told that you can't want white men and black women to be "just friends" or that's desexualization and black woman are "always desexualized." And I'm just like…WTF? Are you serious? White man/black woman is probably the most POPULAR interracial pairing. It's been around for DECADES. And other pairings that are even more common in real life don't get 1/10th of the representation.

And these are the same assholes that will go on and on about bashing female characters. Until it's a white woman who gets int the way of their interracial ship.

Ship what you want, but Jesus FUCK their double standards are annoying.

Huh. It's usually black man/white woman in British media.

Really? That surprises me because here in the US I remember Will Smith talking about how Cameron Diaz couldn't be his love interest in Hitch because the executives thought the audience would be too uncomfortable with a black man/white woman pair. Eva Mendes eventually got cast.

That's so odd. It's really unusual to see white guy/black woman pairings here in the UK. I have absolutely no idea why. Black man/white woman pairings happen all the time though. There was a cop TV show with Idris Elba, Luther, where he and the main villain, a female serial killer, had some seriously awesome sexual tension going on.

Black man / white woman is really common in real life, though. I think it's more common than white man / black woman.

I write this! :D If you're interested, I've got a couple stories about a Hispanic guy and his black vampire husband raising kids and dealing with health insurance together!

(Sorry, I ruin vampires for everyone.)

Everything about this sounds awesome…except for vampires. I don't know what it is, but I just can't take vampires seriously anymore. Same with werewolves.

Neither can I, which is why I write vampires as old, crotchety, perpetually confused about shit like fax machines, and with the worst health insurance problems on earth.

So... slice-of-life shit where packs of feral vampire teenyboppers are a legit problem and there are a lot of random adults getting turned when they SO do not want to.

If you want a very very short version of the premise, I made a comic strip about it. (The black dad is in the third panel.)
