I still think Man from UNCLE had some of the best female characters in any TV show ever, despite being a sixties TV show full of sexism. Even if they were just there to be Females of the week, every single one of them had interesting personalities. And really diverse personalities too! You just don't see that much anymore.

A friend of mine pointed out that that show is essentially a female fantasy. Every week, a perfectly ordinary woman is suddenly pulled out of her mundane life to have wild adventures with two sexy dudes, there's humor and daring escapes and some making out, and then she's returned to her life unharmed. It's like it's self-insert fic every week. :)
