I genuinely do not understand the modern style of comedy, such as you see on Adult Swim's live-action shows, Parks & Rec, B99, and some other similar shows I've caught snippets of. The way people are so over the top and yet delivering their lines devoid of inflection, deadpan, unnatural. Or they're beyond over-the-top to the point that they're practically winking to the fourth wall with every line they say.

It makes me uncomfortable to watch, they look either like shitty actors who can't actually act, or like they didn't give two shits when they came in to read and just sort of chewed the scenery all day because they were going to get paid no matter what. I don't understand it and I can't watch TV shows hardly at all anymore without running into it. Not that the old sitcom format was any better, but at least in sitcoms people felt a little more personable. If I were stuck waiting at a bus stop with any of the characters in these shows, I would probably jab something sharp through my cranium rather than listen to them talk.

I honestly don't think I can explain it to you. It's just really funny. I enjoy older sitcoms as well and it's definitely a different style of humor.
