Because what people enjoy in fiction is pretty damn seperate from what they approve in reality. Individually calling out people or deciding their awful people because of their entertainment choices is an awful way to go about things and will probably turn them off from learning. I don't have an issue with people criticizing work for being problematic or whatever, but realize no matter how right you are people are going to be hostile if you come into their squee space with "you're an awful person if you enjoy x."

And if you have the right to like the problematic thing, then the inescapable flip side of that is that someone else equally has the right to call you out on it.

Whether you pay any attention to what they say is your choice, but you don't get to decide how/when/if they choose to comment on your choices. Just like you don't in Real Life. If you're going to be that precious about someone coming into your squee space to tell you you suck, I have no idea how you plan on functioning in the outside world where that's basically life. Your response to it is your only choice in the matter, because you cannot shut down someone's right to comment without shutting down your own right to enjoy the thing in the first place. Which is what you're doing by telling someone they can't come into this nebulously designated "space" of yours and criticize you and your likes.
