sort of like making het characters gay, hm?

it's her fanfic, she's entitled to write it as she sees fit. it's not any different than what many other writers do to the characters in fanfiction.

besides, with all due respect, who cares what you respect or disrespect? just don't read it.

No, that's not the same thing at all. Human sexuality is fluid enough to believably allow a surprising amount of wiggle room in writing, and it's also something that's physical and innate to people.

If you're writing in a fandom like, say, Fullmetal Alchemist, it is much much more plausible and possible to write Roy Mustang as gay than as a Christian.

... Just thought I'd throw that one out there :D

(Not disagreeing with your stance, just the example you used to demonstrate it.)

I always wondered about Christianity in FMA. Random, I know, seeing as most of the religions weren't, but I saw some parallels.

I seem to remember there being some mention of Christianity being a long-dead religion there...

Yeah, Christianity existed in FMA world, but died out after much warring - it's mentioned twice. Dante talks about it to Rose, without naming it specifically, and when Ed and Izumi find the letters between Hohenheim and Dante, Izumi points out they're dated with the Christian calender, and briefly explains it was a monotheistic religion that died out centuries ago. :D

But don't you know? Since Christianity IS the great truth behind the universe, it technically exists EVERYWHERE! God's word is in your heart, it has been from the moment of your birth! THAT'S why you deserve to go to Hell if you're not Christian – denying Christ can only be an active, conscious, intentional act of rebellion. You may think otherwise, but that's only because you've deluded yourself so.

Oh, and also, homosexuality only exists in our universe because it's a cultural construct and a choice. Therefor, writing gay characters in a universe where homosexuality has not been shown to exist is just as illogical as writing Christian characters in a universe where Christianity has not been show to exist.

(Did I get all that right? I think that's the basic argument, but I need the OP's confirmation. Feel free to go poking for straw, OP.)

(Also, please note that I am well aware that most Christians aren't that bad. Believe me, I've heard dozens of different perspectives on Christianity. Trying to correct my "misconceptions" by spouting some sphiel I've heard a hundred times isn't going to help. There are Christians who think like that, and there are Christians who don't, and frankly I don't agree with any of them, though some of them I can respect more than others.)

yep, I just won't read it.

Well, heterosexuality and homosexuality exist no matter what the canon. Christianity can't exist in a fantasy world where there is no religion, or where there was no Jesus.
