As someone who posted the last one of these secrets, I do agree with what you're saying in most cases.

However, in most cases you're reading people wrong. It's not a random fan thing. There's always going to be bad fanfiction and art and bad RPers. For me, it was a FRIEND. It was a matter of dealing with someone, yes, practically force feeding by constantly bothering me via IM and giving guilt trips. It's not like I hate my fandoms or the characters now. I just can't actively fan them without feeling uncomfortable. I got burnt out. So, the problem is, after getting into fights over the friend driving me crazy in the first fandom, and no longer being friends with them, it's scary to see them in another fandom, because they may do the same thing to mutual friends or other people, etc.

I think most people who complain about other ruining their fandom are talking about ex-friends rather than random fic. You'd never be able to stay in fandoms if random people could ruin it for you.

The poster of 38 isn't reading anyone wrong.

Very few of the fandom whiners are *personally* involved with the fans they whine about.
There are entire communities devoted to fandom whining.
They simply take fandom too seriously and can't tolerate people who don't agree with them.
