I can't think of any that would make me click on a fic, but "graphic descriptions of violence" definitely makes me more likely to check out a gen piece of h/c :D

I've found that 'graphic descriptions of violence' can range between things that aren't actually that graphic, but are warned for anyway because the writer doesn't want to offend anyone, and like, full on torture. So it's always been pretty hit or miss with me. Not that it isn't good incentive...

That's true. I confess I actually did that, too. But then there are some pretty sensitive people in my fandom, so I try to warn even for minor instances of gore.

I did get the impression your tastes are more extreme than mine, though - e.g. I'll happily read fluff, so I wouldn't have a problem with a fic that warns for violence but is actually overwhelmingly fluffy and not terribly graphic. It's just that I have a special weakness for the darker things.

Yeah, and I understand why people warn for violence. I think this is why it's especially important for ratings to be adjusted for violence as well - that way all violence can be warned for, but you'd know you're in for something lighter if it's rated lower, or if it's rated super high you'd know it's a lot more extreme. But that's another thing all together.

My main thing is that, while I do like that sort of thing, I've found that between odd ratings (ie rating high only if uglies get bumped) and the fact that there are people who are sensitive and would like all instances of violence warned for, I've found I'm personally not that likely to click just because the warning is there and looks promising, unless there's something in the summary that grabs me.
