Mmm, not sure if I agree that doxxing is always gross. Sometimes people hide behind anonymity to do really shitty things. For example:

No. If you feel the individual is doing something illegal/dangerous, you report them to the authorities/admin. You don't take justice into your own hands. Especially considering how easy it is to dox the wrong person.

Doxxers are children throwing a tantrum.

Did you even read the link I posted?

DA

The link is dead.

It's irrelevant, still doxxing. (and dead besides. Apparently someone on that website agrees)

This. Remember the two teens that were identified as the Boston Bombers and had their pic splashed all over the NY Post and then it turned out those two weren't the bombers?

I'm not going to slog through all of that. I'm still not in favor of doxxing. The person they're calling out sounds mentally ill and deranged. That's someone to be banned and ignored.

Sorry for posting something contrary to your opinion. I agree, it's certainly not worthwhile to read something that might change it.

I read enough of it to see it was a lot of self-righteous blather with very little of value actually being said. I quit when she started with the charts.

'This person is bad and says/does bad things' is not an argument that will change my mind about doxxing.

If that's honestly what you took away from it, then fair enough, I suppose. Personally, I think exposing a cyberbully who caused massive harm to many people over a long time period is quite worthwhile.

No. You can expose someone without doxxing them and releasing their personal information. By doing that, you've become just as bad as them AND done something highly illegal.

Who decides who is or is not a cyberbully? Who decides who is bad enough that they deserve to have their personal information spread across the internet for potentially dangerous and unhinged people to find? Who decides who deserves to be punished for what they say on tumblr?

You?
