If you care, Dr. Strange is an arrogant but incredably talented neurosurgeon whom ends up in a car accident that damages his hands. While the day to day is still possible, his talent is gone. his desperate search for a cure takes him beyond conventional sciences, and ultimately discovers from a powerful mystic that inate magical power is a second gift of his. After passing a moral test (the humbling experience of losing his other gift has reduced his self-centeredness) he becomes the apprentice of this mystic, ultimately inheriting his title as Sorcerer Supreme, the most powerful magic user of a given universe and subsequently one who's duty includes keeping a lot of nasty things from gaining dominion of said universe.



Sadly he has never owned a blimp to my knowledge.
