Fucking seriously. I would be on my third playthrough by now instead of having to get the story from everyone else who don't have endless crashes.

Agreed! But let's be real, if people think Bioware will ever place a PC over Morrigan, then they haven't been paying attention. She is so much more important to the lore than any of our disposable heroes. If anyone will get the spark of godhood, it's her.

Do people actually like Morrigan? I mean, I romanced Jack in ME2, and I still thought Morrigan was intolerable.

I do! Some of that is because her relationship with Flemeth strikes very close to home for me, as is how she coped with it. But it's also because I think she has one of the sweetest friendship arcs of any companion. She's probably my second fav of the DAO cast, right after Shale.

She's probably my favorite character in DAO tied up with Zevran. I actually like that she's unlikable at first. And she's nice once you become friends. I've never romanced her precisely because I like the idea of being her friend so much.

Fenris, on the other hand... I always wonder if people really like him or if they just find him hot.

Morrigan as a person is kind of awful. Morrigan as a character though, omfg. I adore the SHIT out of her, yes!

Solavellan is just the new Alistair/Queen Mary Sue Cousland of the fandom, that's all.

DAI was basically written around an elf!Quisitor (bonus points for mage, bonus points for romancing Solas), in much the same way DA:O's main plot had a lot more impact for a Cousland Warden. Except in DAO the other origins at least got extra Orzammar/Alienage/Dalish content, and in DAI a non-elf!Quisitor gets fuck all.

The second statement is not true because up to the one year delay in development the game was written with only one playable race: human.

Now the first statement: yep.

That wasn't really what I was getting at with the second bit. Whether the race options were added later or not, virtually every major plot thread in the game other than the initial mage/templar choice has some crucial meaning/impact for elves. And many of the zones are in the Dales, with multiple quests tied to the modern Dalish and the historical Dalish. I'm pretty sure an elf Inquisitor even gets (potentially) the longest War Table mission line.

Meanwhile Qunari and Dwarves were really short-changed.

Text: I find it incredibly unsettling how many female Lavellan players seem to think that taking Mythal’s essence is a perfectly acceptable solution to the Solavellan conundrum.

They’re completely ignoring Mythal’s agency in her decision to merge with Flemeth, and whatever influence she has over Flemeth’s desire to offer the spark to Morrigan. The only thing that matters to them is getting to live happily ever after in Super Special Snowflakeland.

Bonus Secret: Solavellan stans are worse than Shakarian crazies about turning an interesting companion into nothing more than a prop for how amazing their self-insert PCs are.

The character pictures is Flemeth, though calling her Mythal has a tiny bit of truth to it. Ish. Sort of.

Once again I make the same statement as in my comment to the Solas secret: I haven't played the game yet.

You can guarantee that Solavellan has no ground with me. Not even Solas' big secret makes him worth romancing, simply because one, I find him unattractive, and two, I really have not a huge attachment to the Dalish.

If you want to talk about Super Special Snowflake PCs, can I mention my LotR crossover Warden? I promise it will bore you to tears! (Unless you're a Silmarillion fan, and even then I don't guarantee interest.)

(Yes, that last paragraph was totally sarcastic. ^_^)
