Femaists were the only group of people I've seen that actually gave a damn about make and female issues. I've only seen feminists actually talk about male rape/abuse victims. I've never seen a MRA or an "equialtain" or whatever they're called do anything of the sort.
I don't really see why a feminist critiquing someone's weird opinion (and yes, wanting to "serve" someone is kinda werid.) on the internet denounces an entire political movement.
:/

Did you know feminists in India campaigned to prevent the government from changing the law to include male victims? And they won. So that is feminists ACTIVELY hurting male rape victims.

One group of people in India /=/ the entire feminist movement dude.
And c'mon, knowing how shitty India is with sexual assault, do you HONESTLY think they would still help male rape victims if they were included in the law?

Are you saying it is okay because they prob wouldn't help them anyway? I don't know...maybe if it was legally included they might start to get help. In what fuckign way was it hurting feminists? This isn't like the government wasn't doing anything. They were going to change it to include men. Feminists told them NO. They actively stopped it.

Okay let me explain something.

They probably wouldn't get much help because... They would be shamed for being ~weak~ and ~how could they let someone do that to them~. I have literally seen this working a rape hotline, that they expressed that this problem happened when they confided in close friends.

Way to twist my words.
I'm saying that male rape victims still probably wouldn't of gotten any help, even if they were included. There's nothing to gain and there's nothing to lose in this situation.
Stop blaming feminists for everything dude.

Also, still waitin' on that source.

And of course there is something to gain. Beginning acceptance. It has to start somewhere. And giving men who are brave enough to come forward a way to get legal help is a start.

You are incredibly optimistic. All it does at this point is draw attention to these men in a very negative way. I hate to say it, but the attitudes need to start changing first. Which yeah, really fucking sucks, but I'm not sure what else to do.

Source...?
And you know, when shia labeouf came out about his rape, femanists were the only ones i saw actually giving a damn and supporting him. All the guys I knew just made stupid jokes.

Really? Jezebel commenters are feminists as far as I know. They seem to be really confused about the definition of rape. https://archive.today/SfNSY

Jezebel is to Feminism what Rush Limbaugh is to news.

Oh boy you're one of those people who looks for any reason for the Big Bad Feminists to be wrong.

Did you know there are Muslims who support confining women to the home and stoning rape victims? This must mean all Muslims support that.

Eh, we have different experiences then - because I've seen "equalitarians" who care very much about rape issues, and feminists who claim men can't be raped and just have a very fucked up view on rape in general.

Obviously I also met feminists who cared - but it's certainly no guarantee.

I'm in the crowd of how I've never met an egalitarian who's actually cared about male rape outside of how they can prove those dirty feminists wrong.

I believe you, I'm just saying that is not m experience. I'm assuming it probably really depends on where you hang out.

(frozen comment) Re: DA

(Anonymous) 2015-01-10 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
And that's really why so much of this conversation is batshit. It's people saying "feminism in general is wrong and I don't like all feminists" because they've come across a few feminists who had shitty views.

But exchange "feminist" for ANY other group and no one would agree that it was just to dismiss the entire group. It's a goddamned fucking bias, and it's one most of us have been conditioned to have and it feels really bad to have to question it so we try not to.

Feminist is a political identity with alternatives, not a basic human trait. People can have issues with the movement's history and current discourse and decide it's not for them.

But, if a group is truly so diverse that your opinion of it depends on where you happened to stumble onto it...then surely it's fair enough some people choose not to use that term for themselves?
