(Anonymous) 2015-01-10 12:51 am (UTC)(link)But I think people who blindly rant about the double standard of not seeing all Christians as terrorists based on the acts of extremists don't think about this: How many Muslims does the average person in a non-Muslim country know in person? Very few, if any. How many Christians do they know? Probably a lot. Seeing Christian terrorists on the news isn't going to make you suddenly think most of your friends and neighbors are terrorists too, but when Muslim terrorists on the news are the only Muslims you've seen, of course you're more likely to have a gut fear of all of them.
So just think of it like this. Do most Christians you know explicitly condemn Christian terrorism? Probably not. That doesn't mean they condone it, they just have better things to do than protest it. There are probably a lot of normal Muslims who are the same. You just don't know them.
