I get what you're saying. Normally such a scene (the punching scene) would piss me off too.

What made it passable for me, I suppose, was that the movie takes place in the 1940s and Peggy is basically with a bunch of military recruits. I think, in that context, Peggy knew she had to show them that she could beat their asses and take care of herself. This isn't a situation where just saying something would have gotten the point across nearly as well. No matter what she said, I can see men just laughing her off as a silly woman.

When she punches the guy out though, they can't pretend that he didn't go down.

So I understand why she did it.

But I agree in modern day settings it would annoy me because I think we do have more alternatives today than Peggy had.

But I do maintain that the shooting scene is awful.

DA

I really like Peggy, and part of that is because of how different she is from some of the other female characters in the MCU. She's a fighter, clearly, but that's not her specialty (no fancy martial arts there) and she tries other methods first unless she's actually pissed off. I enjoy that she has a temper, and I'm willing to bet that punching the army recruit was half motivated by logic and half motivated by anger. Either way, I'm fine with it. :)
