Sometimes I do this, sometimes I don't.

And I'm not sure why.

Sometimes, I think, I'm in a fandom for my OTP rather than my favorite character. (James/Alec in Goldneye fandom, although I've also written some gen about Natalya.)

Allll the way on the other side of the scale, I have groups of characters like the Avengers and U.N.I.T. Dating Controversy (the recurring characters from the Third and Fourth Doctor's time with U.N.I.T.) or the Pirates of the Caribbean movies where I will happily read about most combinations of the characters involved, barring squicky things like incest.

The only real pattern that I see is that the multishipping groups are ones that I've discovered relatively recently. (As in, within the past 6-7 years.)
