It's the most interesting kind of crossover for me honestly. Whether or not the details work out with the specific properties. Do your thing, anon.

I'm not sure what concept of them you like, since you don't know what they do?

OP

I've heard just enough about them from friends who read comics/pop culture that I got the impression they were a government organization that deals in the supernatural/superhero stuff and has a lot of bizarre tech (like the Helicarrier). Based on that impression, I developed the idea that S.H.I.E.L.D. monitors unusual situations, and gets involved where necessary.

I knew I should have mentioned something like that in my secret.

I'm in the Marvel fandom and I do this with Hellboy's BPRD, treating it as a paranormal-esque branch of SHIELD in an X-Files sense of things.

That and I want to see Hellboy and Tony snarking it up together in a fight. Or Bruce Banner and Abe enjoying their wealth of knowledge/unusual physical restrictions together. Or Thor and Princess Nuala dealing with their issues concerning their siblings.

I've been thinking about this for way too long as a sort of substitute over how Hellboy 3 will never see the light of day.

You're not doing it wrong! This is a very cool concept IMO. and I'm a sucker for crossovers

So does everyone else. :)

You've got the right impression, OP! I would absolutely believe this, and this is actually a pretty common headcanon (and of course there are already tons of crossovers right along these lines!).

I'm watching Person of Interest at the moment and have this crossover headcanon that the Machine sent the numbers to SHIELD (because Nathan didn't program the backdoor right and/or SHIELD was aware of the project during development and got in on the action) whenever it picked up something weird/alien/magic related. After Northern Lights got shut down it sends the relevant numbers to SHIELD as well, as Root can't take care of them all AND work to protect the Machine.

Putting SHIELD into other canons is incredibly easy. (And even easier when you ignore Winter Soldier)

(Anonymous) 2015-01-13 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, that's about right. What does SHIELD actually do? Who knows!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-13 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
I have read a few (there isn't much, sadly) of really cool Tron/Avengers(or generally Shield related) crossovers and I totally agree that it could work in a lot of interesting ways. Just imagine all those different supernatural/super hero/mutant/intelligence groups fighting over whose jurisdiction some weird supernatural thing that happened is! X-Files vs. Warehouse 13 vs Torchwood vs. BPRD vs. Shield and nobody wants to back down. It would be hilarious.

I think there are a few Hellboy/Thor crossovers as well, but I'm not reading them anymore since a very high percentage had surprise!M-preg and ugh, no thanks. They were mostly Loki/Nuada shipping fics anyway, nothing much to do with the general politics of the organisations.

I don't get how the computer world in Tron would work with them though, since I thought it was more like Digimon where the world is inside a computer, but instead of Digimon, it was humanoids.

Also I don't see how Hellsing would work considering it's part of the British government, not the US government, and they exclusively deal with vampires.

OP

I kind of saw The Grid as its own space (since it started in a corporate building and then got moved to a secret room in an arcade, there's evidence that it's not just limited to one area), and when S.H.I.E.L.D. found out, they found a way to tap into it.

As for Hellsing, I see it as a diplomatic/alliance thing. "We'll send you superhero support if you need it and you send over that red-coated bastard if we get an infestation." Besides, you KNOW S.H.I.E.L.D. would have been monitoring Millenium as a potential offshoot of HYDRA.

Re: OP

Well, I dunno how Millennium can be an offshoot of HYDRA, since the point of Millennium was to make vampires in a different way to keep the Third Reich going and to make it into a huge empire... of course I could be wrong, I never finished the manga. I also don't quite know exactly what HYDRA does.

Sounds good to me.

I could see a link between SHIELD and The Librarians. Or Eureka. Or Fringe. Or Stargate. Or Terminator. I guess what I'm saying is, rock on, OP.

Mini-rant (not aimed at OP): Okay, I like MCU and have watched Agents of 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' and Agent Carter, but acronyms are a thing, Marvel, and if you are going to pronounce it 'shield' and not each of the letters, it's an acronym and not an initialism and you don't need the periods - hell, even a lot of initialisms don't use periods.

Text: I like to think that S.H.I.E.L.D. is involved in every movie set in the modern day that features shadowy organizations or unusual tech.

Except I have NO IDEA what they actually do. I’ve never read/seen any media that features them prominently. I just really like the concept of them.

I feel like I’m doing this wrong.

Tbh this is the only way I can see a believeable crossover between TRON and Marvel working. It'd be tricky but SHIELD pulling "hey look we've been keeping this hush-hush but it would really help right now, how about it" is a good handwave.
