I still don't see how Andy and Ann really work together. TBH though, I'm not entirely sure how well Ann works with anyone on the show. She's almost too much of a straight man to pair with anyone.

Okay, except Ron. Is it okay to admit that I weirdly love that idea?

I wanted Ann to find a man outside of the main cast. I could have been fine with Chris but I didn't really like the whole back and forth with them and the plotline where he dumped her and she didn't know kind of killed their romance for me.

I would maybe get behind that if I didn't love Ron/Xena Warrior Princess so much.

Parks and Rec is one of those extremely rare shows where I actually ship all the canon couples. It's so bizarre.

I was never hung up on Andy/Ann but I still really can't get into Andy/April. They have gotten a bit better but they seemed SO horrible for each other and such a bad influence on each other in the beginning. I didn't mind them dating but the quick marriage was not for me.

Yay Parks and Rec! I'm not ready for this show to end, even though I'm definitely looking forward to watching the farewell season.

I can see why this is a secret, a lot has changed since the first season, particularly the relationships between the characters.

Maybe it's just me, but I thought I saw some hints of Andy/April during the first season (well, towards the end, going into second season).

But hey, you ship what you ship.

It's not just you - it wasn't intentional, but part of the reason they wrote it was the scene where Andy says something doofy (I forget what exactly), and April's all "I totally get what you mean." Apparently that made them realize there was potential.

Leslie/Ron is all I've wanted since day one. I was convinced it was endgame. Even though I love Ben and I know that it's never going to happen, I'm still sort of holding out hope.

I love Leslie/Ron as friends, but I think they'd make a terrible couple. Leslie loves government work and needs someone who shares her enthusiasm and goals. Ron actively tries to work against the government and I think he would go nuts if he were in a romantic relationship. They would both be miserable

By Andy/Ann do you mean the douchey, mooching Andy that was with her at the beginning of the series or do you mean the lovable goofball that he is now?

See? This is why I ended up getting behind Andy/April.

Andy was a douche-y moocher when he was with Ann, partly because Ann let him. They eventually kind of back-explained that at some point in the series when Leslie pointed out that Ann tends to take on the personality traits of some of the guys she dates, and that MAYBE that's why her relationships tend not to work out.

April, on the other hand, didn't really let Andy get away with pulling that kind of bullshit on her. When she thought he was ready to go running back to Ann, she dumped his ass, albeit temporarily. Plus, she tended to subtly push Andy to do better, whether it was with his band, or getting a job in City Hall, or applying for a job in the Parks and Rec department.

So, yeah, Andy did get turned into the golden retriever of Parks and Recs, but by the same token April actually got a little ambition for herself as a carryover of pushing Andy to do better.

I respectfully disagree... to be honest, their relationship always felt like borderline abuse to me. I mean, the guy pretended he was injured longer than he really was so that she would cook for him. Then he basically stalked her once they broke up. I like Andy with April, but I also liked Andy's character much better once they almost entirely dropped the Ann thing, even if they do tend to dumb him down into flanderization.

Andy as even borderline abusive is a concept I'm inclined to disagree with. To me its one of those all abusers are jerks but not all jerks are abusers deals.

Seriously. I hated him so much in season 1, because he was a creepy dick, and now he's one of my favorites. I can't imagine I would've stayed with the show very long if he and Ann had stayed together.

At the least it seemed really unbalanced and unhealthy, for both of them. I can't even really picture them as being good together in the past before he broke his leg--it still seems like he was more into her as a caretaker (an attractive one, but still) and she maybe liked the idea of a musician boyfriend. Otherwise I really don't get what would have made them click.

Ron is more like a father figure to Leslie. If you want a PWP, sure, go for it, but in a more realistic situation, both are going in opposite directions. It even was pointed out when Diane was jealous of Leslie that they are very good friends, but that´s it.

Andy was an ass when he was with Ann. It´s strange, but he works better with April.
