Re: Comics recs/questions

How should I read Thor? I really liked the Thor and Loki relationship in the movies as well as Asgard and I also like Norse mythology if either is relevant. (Yes, I understand that it's not Norse myths but I think I'd like the nod to the myths and seeing how they're reimagined or mentioned.) If you like the movies, would you be disappointed in the comics?

Do you have any Avengers stuff you'd recommend? I'd rather not have something super depressing (the idea of Civil War depresses me, just for reference).

With regards to DC, I was big into DC back in the 90s so I can only offer dated stuff. But you might want to try Kingdom Come. That was the first one I read. There are a ton of characters but you don't really need to know anyone other than Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman. I didn't even know the Spectre going in and still enjoyed it.

Hmm, I'm not a connoisseur of Thor, so I can only talk to you about recent Thor. Based on what you said, I think you'd like Thor: God of Thunder. It's a recent title that lasted 25 issues, deals heavily with mythology and it's just really great Thor. I think a movie fan would like that Thor quite a bit. You should probably read Loki: Agent of Asgard as well, because it's a good ongoing and it crossed over with Thor like this: after issues #24 of Thor and #5 of Loki, they went into a 5 issue story together called Original Sin: Thor & Loki: The Tenth Realm. All of that can be read without any prior knowledge.

I recommend checking out Marvel Unlimited. It's a digital subscription that lets you read a ton of older comics and they're at most six months behind current releases.

Hmm, do you mean team Avengers books or solo titles of Avengers?

Thanks for the rec :)

Thanks! I'll have to look at those.

And, I meant the team -- like JLA if you know that.

Yep. I don't have any Avengers team recs, sorry.
