+1 black text on a white background is pretty easy to read

It's not black text on a white background. It's black text on a transparent background, which is unreadable when the background the image is on is dark.

Seriously, it's not that hard to figure out.

If you have an account, you can set things up to use your own theme. The URL ends with '&style=mine'. Since my eyes can't deal with large swaths of white for very long, I have that set.

Yep. Very occasionally I'll log out and have a moment of HOLY CRAP AM I ON THE RIGHT SITE? because I'm so used to a non-default color scheme.

haha, what's funny is that I don't have this page set to a non-default theme but it still looks really different when I accidentally log out and I have that moment too (the color scheme is white-and-red instead of white-and-beige).

I first saw it on my Fanficrants filter on LJ. My background over there is set to a dark background. I had to come here to read it (I only have the default setting here - white background).
