So glad I'm not active in the phandom right now. So unbelievably angry at the broadway casting directors. Ugh ugh ugh. I know no-one will see this but for fuck's sake, just because the show is about a predatory relationship between a girl and her mentor doesn't mean they had to typecast. Hoping social media outrage actually has an impact for once.

I remember seeing creepers banned from phantomoftheopera.com forums because they were looking for vulnerable girls who were already primed to see stalking as romantic. You'd think the people running the actual show could do better. James Barbour fucking served jail time and he's a registered sex offender--what's next, casting a noseless murdering extortionist?

I hadn't heard of this dude before, so I thought it was maybe one of those things where he got arrested for statutory rape a long time ago because he was 18 and the girl was 16 or whatever but Jesus Christ, this dude was in his thirties and straight up admitted to sexually abusing a 15 year old girl and only went to jail for 60 days on a misdemeanor (the article I read said that he didn't have to register as a sex offender because he pleaded down; not sure if it's true)? Jesus Christ

Also, he did a fundraiser for Scientology. Add in a drug charge, and he'd hit all the bases for "do not hire this man unless you want a shitstorm."
