College Football

So how 'bout them Buckeyes last night? :D I personally don't give two shits about sports, but I feel obligated as an Ohioan

It is awesome that we have a playoff now and that the fourth-place team won it. Also it was a hell of a performance.

I only half watched it myself, but it was nice to win. The fact college football didn't have a playoff was news to me though, I thought it did for some reason.

Who gives a flying fuck about sports?

How many starving kids/homeless puppies could you feed if you decided to put your money toward helping someone instead of throwing it at a bunch of guys who don't do anything but chase a ball around (or more likely, their ridiculously rich managers who don't even do that...). It's such an obvious cash grab that I don't understand why even the stupidest of society falls for it.

You must be fun at parties.

This is a community that's devoted to pulp TV, blockbuster movies, and video games.

Couldn't literally all the same criticisms be made of those things? How the fuck are you going to excoriate someone for picking a different thing than you to be entertained by?

And I'm sure all the money you spend goes on very important things.

...says the person in a community full of people who support movies/tv shows with actors who are often paid ridiculous amounts of money to pretend to be other people

I would certainly hope you have the same feeling towards actors who get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars just to play pretend then, or writers, video game developers, etc, who get paid stupid sums of money to effectively sit around and make something entertaining.

I'm not a fan of sports myself (which I said in my first comment), but I don't rag on people who do like them since I don't want them ragging on me for liking video games and such. I do agree they're overpaid though.

Oh hey, I'm in Ohio too.

I have absolutely no knowledge of the local sports though. <.
